Utilizamos There is... y There are... cuando HAY alguna cosa.
There is a banana on the table.
There are two bananas on the table.
En las oraciones anteriores podemos observar que en ambos casos significa "HAY".
Pero, ¿por qué a veces utilizamos there is y en otras ocasiones there are?

THERE IS: Lo utilizamos en oraciones en las que solo nos refiramos a una cosa.

THERE ARE: Lo utilizamos en oraciones en las que nos refiramos a más de una cosa.
